Jaguars, Wembley pair up

Jacksonville gets London exclusive

-

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reupped their commitment to playing annually at Wembley Stadium in London.

The Jaguars received formal approval at the owners meetings to move forward with a three-year contract to play at Wembley, a deal that gives the small-market franchise exclusivity at one of the United Kingdom’s most iconic venues.

Jacksonville will have full control of the home game for the first time, a change that could mean increased local revenue for a team playing more than 4,000 miles from home. The Jaguars will be in charge of ticketing, merchandise sales and game-day management.

“It’s hard to believe it will have been three years since our last game at Wembley,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said. “But that changes this autumn, and we look forward to coming back to our London home.

Ravens

Baltimore signed coach John Harbaugh to a three-year contract extension. The extension puts Harbaugh under contract with the Ravens through the 2025 season and continues one of the longest runs of any active coach. Harbaugh, 59, was entering the final year of a four-year deal that he signed in January 2019.

Browns

Cleveland agreed to terms with free agent center Ethan Pocic, who will compete with Nick Harris for the starting job and gives the team more depth up front. Pocic started 40 games for the Seahawks.

Saints

New Orleans agreed to terms with veteran Andy Dalton to serve as Jameis Winston’s backup. The one-year deal is worth up to $6 million, with $3 million guaranteed.

Elsewhere

Quarterback Deshaun Watson might not be facing criminal charges, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made it clear that Watson still could be disciplined under the league’s personal conduct policy as a result of the 22 pending civil suits accusing him of inappropriate sexual conduct.
