Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Boyce and Mayview roads/ South Fayette: Intersection improvements mean the western leg of Boyce Road and the southern leg of Mayview Road are closed to through traffic continuously through late August.
2. East Carson Street/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions at various locations between the Smithfield Street Bridge and 33rd Street, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May.
3. Noblestown Road/Oakdale, Pittsburgh: Closed between Hill and Gregg Station roads until further notice.
4. Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard)/Forest Hills: Eastbound crossover between Lafayette Road and Fairfax Road through mid-July for culvert reconstruction. Traffic reconfigured and restricted. Detours posted. Shortly after this crossover completion, an approximate 100-day crossover will occur carrying westbound Route 30 traffic using an eastbound lane.
5. Jerome Street Bridge/ McKeesport: Westbound traffic detoured through early July for ongoing bridge rehabilitation work. Detour posted.
6. Jones Avenue/Wilkins and Turtle Creek: Work to replace Thompson Run East Branch Bridge No. 2 has resumed. Northbound lane of Larimer Avenue to reopen in August, and the new bridge will open in October.
7. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights in each direction between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews are widening the bridge over Chartiers Creek to seven lanes. Additionally, a lane from southbound Washington Pike to northbound I79 will be constructed, widening work will occur on the northbound I-79 on-ramp, and Chartiers
Street will be widened to include a turning lane.
8. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.
9. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilitation until December 2023.
10. Route 28/Aspinwall, Sharpsburg: Long-term closure of the ramp from northbound and southbound Route 28 to Freeport Road at the Highland Park Bridge interchange. Work to continue through late May. Ramp traffic to Freeport Road will be detoured. Also, long-term closure of the ramp from the Highland Park Bridge to northbound Route 28 in Aspinwall, around the clock until late June.
11. Route 28/O’Hara: Singlelane restrictions in both directions at the bridge over Powers Run Road weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the end of May for barrier wall repairs and other work. Additionally, single-lane restrictions will occur on Powers Run Road beneath Route 28 during the same time frame.
12. Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions, shoulder closures and intermittent traffic stoppages through late December.
13. Gill Hall Road/Pleasant Hills: Restrictions between Mowry Drive and Old Clairton Road for support wall construction and other repairs. Work to end in July.
14. Lincoln Way/White Oak: Closed until further notice between Stewartsville Hollow and Coulterville roads due to a landslide.
15. Business Loop 376/ Moon: Single-lane closures in both directions through early June for storm inlet and median barrier removal and replacement work. The lane closures will occur between the eastbound Halverson Drive on-ramp and the I376 Moon (Exit 57) interchange. Crews will work in an approximate 1-mile segment of roadway before moving to the next section.
16. Irvine Street, Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions and traffic shifts around the clock through late July at the intersection of Route 885 with Greenfield Avenue. Work includes roadway widening, sidewalk and ramp installation, drainage improvements and signal upgrades.
17. Commonwealth Avenue/ West Mifflin: Single-lane alternating traffic between Shady Lane and Millers Avenue, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through late May for pipeline work.
18. Perry Highway/Ross, West View: Single-lane restrictions between Ivory Avenue and Center Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights through late August for paving.
19. Route 88/Bethel Park and Castle Shannon: Single-lane alternating traffic between South Park Road and Connor Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m.
Sunday through late August for paving.
20. Route 65, Neville Island Bridge/Glenfield: Long-term closure of the ramp from Kilbuck Street to northbound Route 65 at the Neville Island Bridge for painting, structural steel work through mid-June.
21. Sixth Avenue and Wood Street/Pittsburgh: Intersection closed for replacement of bricks in the crosswalks and other work.
22. Andover Terrace/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely in the Upper Hill District for stabilization of a retaining wall.
23. East Willock Road/Baldwin Borough: Single-lane alternating traffic between Short Street and Bluff Street, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late December for water line installation.
24. Liberty Way/Lincoln: Singlealternating traffic between Sunset Lane and Deer Lane, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through early June for gas pipeline work.
31. O’Connell Boulevard/North Braddock: Closed for paving, drainage and slope work. 25. Route 837/West 32. Route 130 (Tri-Boro Expressway)/Turtle Creek, Wilmerding , Monroeville: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Thompson Street and State Street, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, for work at Patton Street and Thompson Street. A long-term single-lane restriction in each direction on Route 130 is anticipated to begin May 16 through the rest of the year for resurfacing, bridge preservation, traffic signal upgrades and other construction.
