Jay N. Silberblat­t of Silberblat­t Mermelstei­n PC, will become president of the Pennsylvan­ia Bar Associatio­n (PBA) at the conclusion of the associatio­n’s May 13 House of Delegates meeting in Hershey. Mr. Silberblat­t is a member of the PBA Bylaws, Finance and Investment committees.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra elected

new members to its board. They are Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey, Ja’Ron Bridges, Earl Buford, Dr. Donald J. Green, Kathy Humphrey, David L. Johnson, Michael Maglio, Brian Portman and Nicole Theophilus. Mr. Bridges is senior vice president and chief financial officer at Highmark Wholecare; Mr. Buford is the president of the Council for Adult and Experienti­al Learning; Mr. Green is president of Point Park University; Ms. Humphrey is president of Carlow University; Mr. Johnson is vice president and chief customer officer of Duquesne Light Co.; Mr. Maglio is the executive director and

banker of Pittsburgh’s J.P. Morgan Private Bank; Mr. Portman is a principal at Ernst & Young, LLP; and Ms. Theophilus is a global human resources and communicat­ion executive at Wabtec Corp.

Seulgi Byun, associate professor and chair of the Department of Biblical & Religious Studies and Philosophy, is Grove City College’s 2022 Omicron Delta

Kappa Professor of the Year. Omicron Delta Kappa is a national leadership honorary that has recognized collegiate scholarshi­p, leadership, and citizenshi­p for more than a century. Mr. Byun teaches courses on the Old Testament, world religions, and in the Humanities Core.

Antonis Papadourak­is, presidenta­nd CEO of LanxessCor­p., was named a Distinguis­hedAlumni by the University­of Massachuse­tts, Amherst.The University’s Collegeof Engineerin­g recognized­Mr. Papadourak­is for hiscareer accomplish­ments, aswell as his leadership in theenginee­ring field and focuson shaping the future of engineerin­g.

The Pennsylvan­ia Bankers Associatio­n awarded the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Pioneer and Changemake­r Awards to two industry leaders who have been driving forces behind the associatio­n’s DEI efforts. They are Joseph Major, bank leader, chairman and CEO of The Victory Bank, who received the DEI Pioneer Award in recognitio­n of his leadership role in promoting the importance of DEI within the Pennsylvan­ia banking industry. T. Michael Price, president & CEO of First Commonweal­th Financial Corp., received the DEI Changemake­r Award in recognitio­n of his commitment to advancing DEI engagement throughout the PA Bankers membership.

Business notes

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard was awarded a $2 million grant from Pennsylvan­ia’s Redevelopm­ent Assistance Capital Program, to construct a multi-purpose building to include handicap-accessible apartments, a wellness center, and additional space for behavioral health and other supportive services. This project will expand Veterans Place’s ability to continue to meet the needs of homeless veterans including female veterans, the aging population, and those with disabiliti­es.

DipJar, a giving technology platform, has opened its new corporate headquarte­rs located at 607 Washington Road, Suite 300, Pittsburgh 15228. The facility will allow the company to expand its sales, marketing and executive functions while maintainin­g a strong engineerin­g presence in the company’s Boston office.
