Nick Gonzales, 2B, Class AA Altoona: Hasn’t been a great year so far for Gonzales, who has walked a bunch (.355 OBP) but hasn’t hit with much consistency or power. Lately, it has been better. Over his last six games, Gonzales was 7 for 25 (.280) with a double and home run.

Henry Davis, C, High-A Greensboro: Davis was hitting .408 with two doubles, four home runs and 16 RBIs over his past 13 games entering play Friday. Through Thursday, Davis was fifth in High-A in OPS (1.048), seventh in on-base percentage (.448) and eighth in batting average (.350).

Oneil Cruz, SS, Class AAA Indianapolis: It’s been a rough start to the season for Cruz, who’s hitting just .163 for the Indians. His triple to the gap on Thursday was his first extra-base hit in seven games and represented the first time he’s had an RBI since April 24.

Quinn Priester, RHP, Class AA Altoona: Priester has not yet appeared in a game this season, the result of an oblique injury, though Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said this week that Priester was throwing off a mound.

Roansy Contreras, RHP, Class AAA Indianapolis: Contreras was set to make his third straight start with the Indians on Friday. He had a 1.42 ERA in his first two, striking out 10 over 6 1/3 innings. Contreras had a 3.52 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings with the big club before he was send down to be stretched out as a starter.

Liover Peguero, SS, Class AA Altoona: Few MiLB hitters are hotter than Peguero right now. The shortstop is hitting .411 in 14 games since April 20, with eight doubles, one triple, one home run and nine RBIs. Entering Friday’s game against Erie, Peguero led the Eastern League in batting average (.341) and was tied for first in extra-base hits (13) and doubles (9).

Endy Rodriguez, C/OF, High-A Greensboro: Looks like the power is back for Rodriguez, who’s hitting .364 (8 for 22) over his past six games, with a double, triple, three home runs, six RBIs and seven runs scored. This after a nine-game stretch in which Rodriguez didn’t have an extra-base hit.

Anthony Solometo, LHP, FCL Pirates: Solometo has yet to make his professional debut, though it’s likely to come in the near future once the FCL begins in June.

Bubba Chandler, RHP/SS, FCL Pirates: Chandler at least got to play 11 games in the Florida Complex League last year, hitting .167 with a homer in 11 games. As for now, Chandler is in a similar boat to Solometo, currently waiting to get into official game action.

Matt Fraizer, OF, Class AA Altoona: Getting a little worrisome for Fraizer. He hit seventh Thursday and went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts to drop his season average to .160. Fraizer has just one homer and one stolen base in 19 games this season while striking out 34.1% (29 in 85 plate appearances) of the time.
