NEW ON DVD

“Uncharted”: A young pickpocket/bartender gets recruited for the adventure of a lifetime, hunting down Magellan’s gold, in this swashbuckl­ing action film featuring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

“Dog”: Comedy starring Channing Tatum, who also co-directed, as a wounded veteran driving his friend’s combat dog to his funeral in Arizona.

“The Cursed”: A pathologis­t with personal demons of his own travels to a small village to investigat­e a supernatur­al occurrence in this horror film set in 19th-century Europe.

“Clean”: This revenge film was a labor of love for Adrien Brody, who not only stars as a garbage man with a dark past but produced the film, composed the score, contribute­d original music and co-wrote the script as well.

AT THE MOVIES

“Firestarte­r” (theaters and Peacock): This remake of the 1984 “Firestarte­r” finds a father doing whatever it takes to protect his daughter from a government agency after she suddenly gains the ability to set fires with her mind. Directed by Keith Thomas and starring Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Gloria Reuben and Kurtwood Smith.

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY

Kendrick Lamar, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”: The Compton, Calif., hip-hop star’s fifth album is the much-anticipate­d follow-up to 2017’s Grammy- and Pulitzer Prize-winning “Damn.” He has stated that it will be his last with the Top Dawg Entertainm­ent label.

The Black Keys, “Dropout Boogie”: Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney wrote all of the material for this 11th album from the bluesrock band that formed in Akron, Ohio. It features one song with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

Florence + the Machine, “Dance Fever”: The fifth album from the British indie-rock band was produced along with Jack Antonoff and Dave Bayley (Glass Animals) with “nods to dance, folk, ’70s Iggy Pop.”

Mandy Moore, “In Real Life”: The seventh album from the singer-songwriter and “This Is Us” star promises everything from “jangly collegeroc­k to cinematic synth-pop to classic singer/ songwriter simplicity.” It includes contributi­ons from her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and his brother and Dawes bandmate, Griffin Goldsmith, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.

The Smile, “A Light for Attracting Attention”: Debut album from the side project composed of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet’s Tom Skinner.

WHAT’S ON TV

“Commit or Quit” (10 p.m. Thursday, WE):

In this new relationsh­ip docuseries, couples in crisis turn to Judge Lynn Toler to evaluate and deliver a life-altering verdict to them: Should they tie the knot or cut their romantic losses and go their separate ways?

“Sneakerell­a” (Friday, Disney+): Set in the avant-garde street-sneaker subculture of New York City, this is a music-driven movie that puts a contempora­ry twist on the “Cinderella”

fairy tale.

“The Lincoln Lawyer” (Friday, Netflix): New series based on the bestsellin­g novels by Michael Connelly stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as an LA lawyer running his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln.

“The Kids in the Hall” (Friday, Amazon Prime): Eight-episode series from the iconic Canadian comedy troupe of Dave Foley, Bruce

McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson.

“The Essex Serpent” (Friday, Apple TV+):

Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston star in this series about a newly widowed woman who relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, where she becomes fascinated with the local superstiti­on that a mythical creature called the Essex Serpent roams in the area.

“Couples Therapy” (8 p.m. Friday, SHO):

Noted psychologi­st Dr. Orna Guralnik returns to her office in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she welcomes four new couples to begin work on some of their most intimate issues as Season 3 of this docuseries opens. In the premiere, Will and Ping have discovered that being in an open relationsh­ip poses some unexpected challenges.

“Great Performanc­es” (9 p.m. Friday, WQED): PBS kicks off a three-week “Broadway’s Best” event with a 2021 West End production of Cole Porter’s classic musical “Anything Goes,” with Sutton Foster reprising the role of Reno Sweeney.

“Mama June: From Not to Hot” (9 p.m. Friday, WE): This docuseries spinoff/sequel to “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” returns with new episodes to complete Season 5, as a sober “Mama” June Shannon tries to stay clean and reconcile with her family.

“Trophy Wife” (8 p.m. Saturday, BET):

Christian Sesma’s 2022 crime drama stars Erica Peeples (TV’s “All American”) as Toni Carter, who has a complete breakdown and ends up in a mental health facility after receiving the shocking news that her husband (Sean Patrick Thomas, “The Tragedy of Macbeth”) has been murdered.

“Love & Marriage: DC” (9 p.m. Saturday, OWN): This new docuseries, the first franchise spinoff in OWN’s network history, revolves around Monique and Chris Samuels from “The Real Housewives of Potomac.”

“The Nightcap With Carlos King” (10 p.m. Saturday, OWN): Reality show producer Carlos King, the creator and executive producer of OWN’s unscripted “Love & Marriage” franchise, hosts this new talk show, in which he welcomes guests from some of the network’s most popular shows.

2022 Billboard Music Awards (8 p.m. Sunday, WPXI): Sean “Diddy” Combs is host and executive producer of this year’s awards from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Among this year’s nominees, The Weeknd is the top contender with nods in 17 categories.

“The Time Traveler’s Wife” (9 p.m. Sunday, HBO): Emmy-winning writer Steven Moffat (“Sherlock”) adapted Audrey Niffenegge­r’s literary fantasy for this new TV series about the marriage of Clare Abshire (Rose Leslie, “Game of Thrones”) and Henry DeTamble (Theo James), a relationsh­ip that is complicate­d by an unusual nuisance: time travel. Specifical­ly, Henry is afflicted with a rare disorder that causes him involuntar­ily to jump backward and forward in time. Desmin Borges and Natasha Lopez also star in the drama, which will air six episodes in Season 1.
