Sprinter from Ambridge continues to build on star legacy at Duquesne
Isaac Elliott, a star sprinter at Duquesne University, was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the Atlantic 10 Conference championships for the second consecutive year. Elliott, a senior and graduate of Ambridge High School, won the 100meter dash for the third time in his career and set an A-10 record with a time of 10.22 seconds, breaking a 23-year-old mark. He also won the 200 for the third time and ran a leg on Duquesne’s 400 relay team that finished first.
Top softball hitter at Waynesburg is graduate from Chartiers-Houston
The Waynesburg softball team is headed to the NCAA DIvision III tournament and Ella Brookman is one of the main reasons. Brookman, a sophomore from Chartiers-Houston who transferred from West Virginia Wesleyan, helped Waynesburg win the PAC tournament championship last weekend, hitting .667 in three games. Waynesburg defeated Westminster, 31, in the title game. Brookman is Waynesburg’s top hitter this season with a .416 average, 15 doubles, 5 triples and 42 RBIs.
Ace on pitching staff at Rutgers is from Seton Hill, Latrobe
Jared Kollar is making the most of his one season in Division I baseball. Kollar, a Latrobe graduate, transferred from Seton Hill (Division II) to Rutgers for his final year of eligibility. He leads Rutgers in wins and is one of the reasons the Scarlet Knights lead the Big Ten Conference with a 16-4 record (37-11 overall). Kollar is tied for second in the Big Ten in wins with a 7-2 record. He has a 3.38 ERA and has struck out 69 in 64 innings. Rutgers was the No. 21 team in the country.
