Traffic watch

Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week 1. Boyce and Mayview roads/South Fayette: Intersection improvements mean the western leg of Boyce Road and the southern leg of Mayview Road are closed to through traffic through late August.

2. Noblestown Road/Oakdale, Pittsburgh: Closed between Hill and Gregg Station roads until further notice.

3. Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard)/Forest Hills: Eastbound crossover between Lafayette Road and Fairfax Road through mid-July for culvert reconstruction. Traffic reconfigured and restricted. Detours posted. Shortly after this crossover completion, an approximate 100-day crossover will occur carrying westbound Route 30 traffic using an eastbound lane.

4. Jerome Street Bridge/ McKeesport: Westbound traffic detoured through early July for ongoing bridge rehabilitation work.

5. Jones Avenue/Wilkins and Turtle Creek: Work to replace Thompson Run East Branch Bridge No. 2 has resumed. Northbound lane of Larimer Avenue to reopen in August, and the new bridge will open in October.

6. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews are widening the bridge over Chartiers Creek to seven lanes. Additionally, a lane from southbound Washington Pike to northbound I-79 will be constructed, widening work will occur on the northbound I-79 on-ramp, and Chartiers Street will be widened to include a turning lane.

7. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.

8. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilitation until December 2023.

9. Route 28/Aspinwall, Sharpsburg: Long-term closure of the ramp from the Highland Park Bridge to northbound Route 28 in Aspinwall, around the clock until late June.

10. Route 28/O’Hara: Singlelane restrictions on Route 28 in both directions from Powers Run Road to the Fox Chapel onramp (Exit 8) weekdays through the end of August according to the following schedule: Northbound restrictions, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Southbound restrictions, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for patch layout work.

11. Route 28/Harmar: Singlelane restrictions and lane shifts northbound at the Harmar (Exit 11) on and off exit ramps around-the-clock through the end of July for shoulder and lane widening and reconstruction.

12. Campbells Run Road/ Robinson: Closed between Keiners Lane and Brookside Drive through November for replacement of Campbells Run South Branch Bridges Nos. 5 and 6.

13. Lincoln Way/White Oak: Closed until further notice between Stewartsville Hollow and Coulterville roads due to a landslide.

14. Business Loop 376/ Moon: 34. Business Loop 376 (Route 3160)/Moon: Singlelane closures in both directions through mid-July for storm inlet and median barrier removal and replacement. The lane closures will occur between the eastbound Halverson Drive on-ramp and the I-376 Moon (Exit 57) interchange. Crews will work in an approximate one-mile segment of roadway before moving to the next section.

15. Irvine Street, Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions and traffic shifts around the clock through late July at the intersection of Route 885 with Greenfield Avenue. Work includes roadway widening, sidewalk and ramp installation, drainage improvements and signal upgrades. Also, single-lane restrictions, shoulder closures and intermittent traffic stoppages on Second Avenue through late December.

16. Perry Highway/Ross, West View: Single-lane restrictions between Ivory Avenue and Center Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights through late August for paving.

17. Route 88/Bethel Park and Castle Shannon: Single-lane alternating traffic between South Park Road and Connor Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday through late August for paving.

18. Route 65, Neville Island Bridge/Glenfield and Sewickley: Long-term closure of the ramp from Kilbuck Street to northbound Route 65 at the Neville Island Bridge for painting, structural steel work through midJune.

19. Sixth Avenue and Wood Street/Pittsburgh: Intersection closed for replacement of bricks in the crosswalks and other work.

20. Sixth Street at Penn Avenue/Pittsburgh: Intersection closed as part of ongoing project to repair and replace brick crosswalks.

21. Andover Terrace/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely in the Upper Hill District for stabilization of a retaining wall. 22. East Willock Road/Baldwin Borough: Single-lane alternating traffic between Short Street and Bluff Street, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late December for water line installation.

23. Route 837/West Homestead: Lane restrictions on Seventh and Eighth avenues between Neel Street and the Route 885 (Glenwood Bridge) interchange, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays through mid-November for pavement reconstruction and related work.

24. Parkway East/Pittsburgh: Ramp restrictions at the I-376/Boulevard of Allies interchange, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through late December for reconstruction.

25. Stanton Avenue/Reserve: Closed between Johnston Street and Karen Drive for replacement of Girty’s Run Bridge. Work will continue until sometime in July.

26. Various locations/Pittsburgh: City has begun its 2022 milling and paving program. Check here for updated schedules: https://pittsburghpa.gov/ domi/paving-schedule.

27. Route 130 (Tri-Boro Expressway)/Turtle Creek, Wilmerding, Monroeville: Single-lane restrictions in each direction through the rest of the year for resurfacing, bridge preservation, traffic signal upgrades and other work.

28. Coulterville Road/White Oak: Closed between Lincoln Way and Main Street through October to replace Long Run Bridge No. 3. Detour posted.

29. Blackburn Road/Sewickley Heights: Closed between Oak Knoll Drive and Magee Road through September for replacing Kilbuck Run Bridge No. 16. Detour posted.

30. Millers Run Road/South Fayette: Closed between Crest Street and Morgan Hill Road for slide removal work, through late August. Traffic detoured via Route 50.

31. Baldwin Road/Collier: Slide repair work has closed Baldwin Road between Pinkerton Run Road and Cowan Road through early July. Detour posted.

32. Collins Street/Highland Park: Being converted to oneway southbound between Stanton Avenue and Saint Marie Street because of pedestrian safety issues in the area of Dilworth Traditional Academy. Other sections of Collins Street already follow the same traffic pattern.

33. Route 8/Wilkinsburg: Lane restrictions near the I376 off-ramp, around-the-clock through mid-June between Route 30 and Brinton Road for inlet and pipe repairs.
