AT THE MOVIES

“Lightyear”: Pixar gets meta with this animated film about the non-toy version of Buzz Lightyear and his space travels that take him to infinity and beyond. Chris Evans takes over for Tim Allen as the titular character alongside a voice cast that also includes Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Uzo Aduba.

“Brian and Charles”: An isolated man who builds a robot for company soon realizes that his latest invention may force him to step out of his comfort zone. Directed by Jim Archer and starring David Earl, Chris Hayward and Louise Brealey.

NEW ON DVD

“Morbius”: Jared Leto plays the titular character, first introduced in a ’70s Spider-Man comic book storyline, a doctor who attempts to cure his rare blood disease but instead infects himself with a form of vampirism.

“Ambulance”: Heist thriller from Michael Bay about two bank robbers who hijack an ambulance in Los Angeles when their getaway doesn’t go as planned. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

“Father Stu”: Mark Wahlberg plays the lead in this true story of a boozing, boxing actor who turns his life around and enters the priesthood. Also starring Mel Gibson and written and directed by his girlfriend, Rosalind Ross.

“Infinite Storm”: Based on a real incident, Naomi Watts stars as a mountain climber who becomes trapped in a blizzard and finds a stranded stranger, who she must help down the mountain.

“Fatherhood”: Netflix film, based on a true story, featuring Kevin Hart as a widower who is raising his daughter as a single dad.

Joey Bada$$, “2000”: The third album from the Brooklyn rapper arrives nearly 10 years to the date after the release of his classic mixtape, “1999.”

Logic, “Vinyl Days”: The seventh album from the Maryland rapper/producer who will be touring with Wiz Khalifa.

Perfume Genius, “Ugly Season”: Indiepop artist Mike Hadreas’ sixth album was written as the accompanim­ent to Perfume Genius and choreograp­her Kate Wallich’s immersive dance piece “The Sun Still Burns Here.”

Alanis Morissette, “the storm before the calm”: The first meditation album from the “Jagged Little Pill” star.

“Father of the Bride” (Thursday, HBO Max): A father comes to terms with his daughter’s upcoming nuptials in this adaptation of the 1949 Edward Streeter novel. Starring Andy García, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona and Isabela Merced.

Bonnaroo 2022 (Thursday, Hulu; also Friday-Sunday): Artists from The Chicks to Stevie Nicks perform in livestream coverage of this annual music festival in Tennessee.

“Leave No Trace” (Thursday, Peacock):

This 2022 documentar­y examines the decades-long sex abuse scandal that rocked the Boy Scouts of America.

“Martin: The Reunion” (Thursday, BET+):

Find out “wazzup” with Martin Lawrence and the cast of this 1992–97 sitcom in this new special.

“Rutherford Falls” (Thursday, Peacock):

There’s no place like home in a second season of this small-town satire starring Ed Helms.

“Snoop Dogg’s F— Around Comedy Special” (Thursday, Netflix): The hip-hop star also hosts a stand-up showcase.

“Queer Silicon Valley” (10 p.m. Thursday, PBS): This new two-part special recalls the struggles and triumphs of the tech capital’s LGBTQ community.

“The Old Man” (10 and 11 p.m. Thursday, FX; also Hulu): Jeff Bridges plays a former CIA agent with a particular set of skills in this new espionage drama.

The AFI Life Achievemen­t Award Gala: Tribute to Julie Andrews (10 p.m. Thursday, TNT): The hills are alive with the sound of praise for the beloved film star.

“Cha Cha Real Smooth” (Friday, Apple TV+): A bar mitzvah party host (Cooper Raiff) puts the moves on a single mom (Dakota Johnson) in this 2022 comedydram­a filmed in Pittsburgh.

“Chrissy’s Court” (Friday, Roku): Ms. Teigen lays down the law for a second season.

“Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” (Friday, Hulu): Retired teacher Emma Thompson hooks up with a hunky young gigolo in this 2022 comedy.

“Jerry & Marge Go Large” (Friday, Netflix): An old married couple (Bryan Cranston, Annette Bening) exploit a lottery loophole in this fact-based 2022 comedy.

“The Lake” (Friday, Prime Video): Step-siblings square off over who gets the family cottage in this Canadian comedy series. With Julia Stiles.

“Spiderhead” (Friday, Netflix): Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett are headed to prison ... not in real life, but in this futuristic 2022 thriller.

“Hotel Portofino” (8 p.m. Sunday, WQED): This new period drama takes place on the French Riviera in the summer of 1926 when Bella Ainsworth (Natascha McElhone) arrives in Portofino, Italy, on a mission to open a quintessen­tially British hotel.

The Black Pack: Excellence (8 p.m. Sunday, WPCW): This second of two specials celebratin­g Black culture and excellence sees co-hosts Taye Diggs, Ne-Yo and Eric Bellinger reuniting for a blend of musical and dance performanc­es.
