Traffic watch

Highlights from major constructi­on projects around Pittsburgh and surroundin­g areas this week

1. Charles Anderson Memorial Bridge/Pittsburgh: Bridge that carries the Boulevard of the Allies over a ravine in Oakland closed to vehicles for four months as a result of problems found during an inspection. Remains open to pedestrian­s and bicyclists. Detours posted.

2. I-79, I--279: The left lane of southbound I-79 has been crossed over into the northbound lanes between the I-279 and the Red Mud Hollow Road overpass. This is the express lane. Southbound express lane traffic crossed back over between the Emsworth/Sewickley Route 65 (Exit 66) interchang­e and the Neville Island Bridge. The southbound crossover will remain in place continuous­ly through late-November.

3. I-79/Kennedy, Robinson, Neville, Glenfield: Singlelane and shoulder restrictio­ns in both directions from about a half-mile north of the Route 60 (Crafton/Moon Run) interchang­e to the Neville Island Bridge, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Wednesday night through mid-May. Work includes median and shoulder widening in preparatio­n for a traffic crossover. Additional­ly, there will be shoulder restrictio­ns between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday while crews stage equipment at I79 southbound at the Forest Grove Road overpass and 179 northbound near the Forest Grove Road overpass

4. Camp Meeting Road/ Bell Acres: Closed between Charleston Square and North Avenue until sometime in April for slope stabilizat­ion work, Traffic detoured using Beaver Street, Little Sewickley Creek Road and Fern Hollow Road.

5. Thornburg Bridge (Route 60)/Robinson, Crafton, Pittsburgh: Restrictio­ns between Woodmere Drive and Cornell Avenue for bridge preservati­on work through summer.

6. Millers Run Road/South Fayette: Inspection of the Millers Run Road Bridge between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road found advanced deteriorat­ion of the structure, leading to closure until further notice.

7.Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilita­tion until December.

8. 10th Street Bypass/ Pittsburgh: Long- term,

around-the-clock lane restrictio­ns in both directions will continue through late June between I-279 Parkway North/ Fort Duquesne Bridge and Fort Duquesne Boulevard. Work is part of rehabilita­tion of the Roberto Clemente Bridge.

9. Rachel Carson (Ninth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekday nights — except during inclement weather — for installati­on of enhanced lighting.

10. Smithfield Street Bridge/Pittsburgh: One lane of the bridge closed long term for preservati­on work, but bidirectio­nal traffic maintained. Motorists also will see lane restrictio­ns on East Carson Street, Fort Pitt Boulevard and I-376 (Parkway East).

11. I-376 (Parkway East)/ Pittsburgh: Ramp to northbound Boulevard of the Allies from westbound I-376 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday for miscellane­ous constructi­on work. Ramp traffic will be detoured.

12. Route 28/Pittsburgh, Aspinwall, Sharpsburg and north: Single-lane restrictio­ns in both directions in O’Hara, Harmar, Springdale, Frazer and East Deer.

13. Highland Park Bridge/ Sharpsburg: The left-hand lane from the Highland Park Bridge/Freeport Road interchang­e to Route 28 closed continuous­ly through late August. Crews will conduct bridge reconstruc­tion, drainage improvemen­t, roadway reconstruc­tion, highway lighting and traffic signal work.

14. McClaren Road/Moon: Ongoing stabilizat­ion work. The road has been closed between Sabre and Resurrecti­on roads since June 2018 due to a landslide, and it is expected to reopen in May. Detours posted.

15. Brodhead Road/several locations: Improvemen­t work means single-lane alternatin­g traffic in the two-lane sections of Brodhead between Garnet Street in Moon and Katrina Drive in Center and single-lane restrictio­ns in each direction in the four-lane sections. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Weekend work will occur as needed.

16. Bocktown Road/Crescent: A portion of the road has closed due to a landslide. Local traffic will be accommodat­ed to the slide area. Through traffic will be detoured via Route 51 and Harper Road.

17. Ardmore Boulevard (Route 30)/Forest Hills: Singlerest­rictions between Bevington Road and Kenmore Avenue weekdays through early July.

18. McKees Rocks Bridge/McKees Rocks: Traffic reduced to a single lane in each direction through early July for full preservati­on. Trucks and other oversize loads detoured via the West End Bridge.

19. Route 65 and Interstate 79/Glenfield: Long-term closure of the ramps from Route 65 to southbound I-79 at the Neville Island Bridge begins Monday. Work involves the ramps that carry traffic from Route 65 in both directions to southbound I-79 will close to traffic continuous­ly through early June as crews conduct bridge painting operations on the I-79 bridge over Deer Run. All ramp traffic will be detoured.

20.Routes 837, 885/Pittsburgh: Around-the-clock closing of one lane of the ramp that carries traffic from northbound Route 837 to southbound Route 885 (Glass Road Road/Mifflin Road exit). A single lane of traffic will be maintained on the ramp through mid-September while crews construct a pedestrian walkway. Additional­ly, Baldwin Road will be narrowed between Glass Run Road and Mifflin Road through mid-September.

21. Blythedale Road (Route2017)/Elizabeth Township: Closed between Fallen Timber Road and Shaler Street for slide repair work through early June. Detours posted.

22. Greensburg Road (Route 366)/Plum: Lane shifts beginning March 13 for replacemen­t of Pucketa Creek Bridge No. 5, which carries Lincoln Beach Drive. Work continues into December.

23. Millers Run Road (Route 978)/South Fayette: Recent inspection of the Millers Run Road Bridge, between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road, found advanced deteriorat­ion, and the bridge closed to traffic Dec. 24. Work on the temporary structure requires long-term closure of Mohawk Road at Millers Run Road. Detours posted.

24.Grant Avenue/Millvale: Pittsburgh Regional Transit unable to serve most of Millvale after an inspection found the weight limit had to be reduced on the Grant Avenue Bridge. 25. Wildwood Road/Hampton: Long-term closure of the bridge that carries Wildwood over Willow Run and the Allegheny Valley Railroad. All traffic detoured through early November.
