3 dogs looking for their forever homes
Shelter Soulmates is a semi-monthly feature that spotlights animals from Pittsburgh area shelters who are looking for forever homes. Animals were available at time of publication.
Mia
Mia, a 3-year-old, 55pound Alaskan husky, is the longest resident of the
Beaver County Humane Society at almost seven months. She is great with other large dogs, but her husky-ness makes her not a huge fan of cats and other small animals.
Mia, who has only one
eye, loves to play with toys, run outside and “talk” like a husky. If you are feeling lonely and wish you had someone to gossip and gab with, she is your girl! She is also a great walking buddy — she never gets cold!
To learn more and set up a meet and greet with Mia, contact the Beaver County Humane Society (www.beavercountyhumanesociety.
Red
Meet Red, a 65-pound lump of sweetness that
doesn’t realize his size and would prefer your lap over a dog bed any day. Yes, he’s a snuggler! He absolutely loves chasing tennis balls, eating cheese and giving kisses.
This 2-year-old mixedbreed dog has spent most of his life in the shelter searching for a home. He has a huge heart, however, he prefers a home without other pets or small children because of his size and energy level. The staff has been working with him on his manners and he is quite the gentleman now.
With consistency and love, Red will make a great family member. For more information, call the Butler County Humane Society at 724-789-1150 or go to butlercountyhs.org.
Bandit
Bandit, a 15-year-old pug mix, is Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh’s oldest resident. He was found as a stray on the streets and no one cared enough to come look for him. This senior pup is looking for a quiet home to live out his days in absolute comfort.
Bandit has dental disease and cataracts that impair his vision. He is on medication to keep him comfortable and will need some patience and extra care. He is not sure about cats, but can be around gentle, understanding animals. To learn more about Bandit, contact www.humaneanimalrescue.org.
