Texas A&M surprises No. 2 Tide

No. 3 Kansas gets blown out by Longhorns

Wade Taylor scored 28 points and No. 24 Texas A&M beat No. 2 Alabama, 67-71, Saturday, makings its late free throws after Crimson Tide star Brandon Miller fouled out.

The loss snapped a fourgame winning streak for Alabama (26-5, 16-2 SEC), which played the last two minutes without Miller, who fouled out chasing a loose ball after leading the Tide with 19 points.

The Aggies (23-8, 15-3) led by two with two minutes to play when MIller fouled out while chasing a loose ball. Dexter Dennis made both free throws to make it 61-57. A basket by Jahvon Quinerly cut the lead to two again, but Taylor made two free throws to make it 63-59 with 30 seconds left.

Rylan Griffin missed a 3 for Alabama and Taylor made two more free throws to pad the lead.

Other Top 25 men

Texas 75, Kansas 59: Sir’Jabari Wright scored 21 points as the ninth-ranked Longhorns (22-8, 11-6) finished their Big 12 regular season with a statement win against the third-ranked Jayhawks (25-5, 13-4). They will be the top two seeds in the conference tournament. Jalen Wilson had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Kansas.

Marquette 96, St. John’s 94: The sixth-ranked Golden Eagles (25-6, 17-3 Big East) barely escaped a last-minute collapse as the Red Storm (17-14, 7-13) erased almost all of a 10-point deficit in the final 21 seconds.

Iowa State 73, Baylor 58: The seventh-ranked Bears saw their potential NCAA seeding take a hit from visiting Iowa State. Jaren Holmes had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Cyclones (18-12, 9-9 Big 12). Adam Flagler had 20 points for Baylor (22-9, 11-7).

Auburn 79, Tennessee 70: Wendell Green Jr. scored 24 points to boost the Tigers’ NCAA tournament prospects. Auburn (20-11, 10-8 SEC) had lost eight of its past 10. Santiago Vescovi scored 21 for the 12th-ranked Vols.

Virginia 75, Louisville 60: The 13th-ranked Cavaliers (15-5, 23-6 ACC) raced to a 16-point halftime lead. Armaan Franklin scored 16 points to lead Virginia as the Cavaliers clinched a share of the ACC title — the sixth time in 14 years they’ve finished atop the standings in Tony Bennett’s 14 seasons.

Seton Hall 82, Providence 58: Dre Davis scored 24 points to help the Pirates (1714, 10-10 Big East) stun the 20th-ranked Friars on their home floor and end a three -game losing streak. Providence fell to 21-10, 13-7.

Oklahoma74, TCU 60: Tanner Groves scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds as the Sooners (15-16, 5-13 Big 12) never trailed against the 22nd-ranked Horned Frogs (20-11, 9-9).

Kentucky88, Arkansas 79: Antonio Reeves scored 37 points and Oscar Tshiebwe grabbed 13 rebounds for the 23rd-ranked Wildcats (21-10, 12-6 SEC).

Top 25 women

South Carolina 80, Mississipp­i 51: The top-ranked Gamecocks breezed into Sunday’s final of the SEC tournament at Greenville, S.C., where they will play the winner of Saturday night’s LSU-Tennessee game. Laetica Amihere scored 17 points to lead South Carolina (31-0).

Ohio State 79, Indiana 75: Taylor Thierry had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the 14thranked Buckeyes (25-6) advanced to the Big Ten tournament final Sunday against Iowa. Grace Berger led the second-ranked Hoosiers (27-3) with 20 points.

Tennessee 69, LSU 67: The Vounteers rallied from a 17point deficit to eliminate the fourth-ranked Tigers in an SEC semifinal. Tennessee (23-10) will play unbeaten South Carolina in Sunday’s final. Virginia Tech 58, Duke 37:

The eighth-ranked Hokies (264) got 24 points from Georgia Amoore, including six 3-pointers, to oust the Blue Devils (25-6) in an ACC tournament semifinal at Greensboro, N.C.

Iowa 89, Maryland 84: The seventh-ranked Hawkeyes (25-6) knocked off the No. 4 Terrapins in their Big Ten semifinal at Minneapoli­s as Caitlin Clark scored 22. Iowa will play Ohio State in Sunday’s final.

Louisville 64, Notre Dame 38: The Cardinals (23-10) shocked the 10th-ranked Irish (25-5) in their ACC tournament semifinal. Louisville will play Virginia Tech on Sunday.

Women’s tournament­s

Ohio Valley: Kiera Hill’s 14 points and 10 rebounds helped Tennessee Tech (21-9) defeat Little Rock, 54-46, in Evansville, Ind., to win the OVC’s automatic berth to the NCAA tournament, Tech’s first NCAA bid since 2000.
