Another win, another record

Bruins fastest in history to 50 wins

The Boston Bruins’ T-shirt factory is struggling to keep up with all the milestones the team is cruising past on its way to the Presidents’ Trophy.

They defeated Detroit Saturday at home for their 50th win of the season, making them the fastest team to reach the milestone in NHL history. The Bruins needed only 64 games to reach 50 wins, beating the record of 66 set by the 1995-96 Red Wings and matched by the 2018-19 Lightning.

“Fifty wins, it’s amazing,” said forward A.J. Greer.

“I love playing for this team,” Greer said after assisting on Garnet Hathaway’s game-winner with six minutes left. “I love wearing the Bruins logo and especially with the results, it’s been an amazing journey so far.”

Hathaway gathered in a rebound and poked it in to break a third-period tie as Boston rallied from a twogoal deficit to beat Detroit and improve to 50-9-5 on the season.
