McKees Rocks man arrested in Colorado on arson-related charges
A man wanted in connection with a suspicious fire in Stowe that injured four firefighters has been arrested in Colorado.
The U.S. Marshals Service in Denver and Allegheny County police announced over the weekend that Andre Quinones, 30, of McKees Rocks, was arrested in Colorado after about 18 months on the run.
Mr. Quinones, 30, was charged by county police with nine counts of arson in the Aug. 12, 2021, fire that destroyed a duplex in the 1300 block of Island Avenue.
County police said a woman was inside the home when the fire broke out but managed to escape the blaze without injury.
But four firefighters were hurt when the porch collapsed on top of them. All four suffered burn injuries; one firefighter also sustained a leg injury and another firefighter also suffered five broken vertebrae.
In addition to the arson-related charges, Mr. Quinones was charged in connection with an altercation earlier that day involving the victim of the arson, county police said.
The Marshals Service said that in late February, it received a tip that Mr. Quinones possibly was in the Denver area. An investigation led authorities to a residence where Mr. Quinones was spotted, the news release said.
Thursday evening, investigators saw him leave the residence, and he was arrested.
He was being held in the Denver Downtown Detention Center on outstanding warrants from Pennsylvania, the Marshals Service said.
In addition to facing extradition to Pennsylvania, Mr. Quinones also could face charges in Colorado, the Marshals Service said.
