‘FIRE IT UP!’

Snoop Dogg pimps pets with new apparel line

- By Abby Kirkland

Snoop Dogg has gone to the dogs (and cats) with the launch of a pet apparel and accessories line created and marketed with a Pittsburgh-based company. The rapper’s Snoop Doggie Doggs line (snoopdoggiedoggs.com) has items with names such as Throw a Dogg a Bone, Boss Lady, Mic Drop, Halftime and Off the Chain. Clothing includes jerseys, hoodies, pajamas and bandanas in sizes XS-XL along with dishes, toys, collars, leashes and even a velvet harness.

Prices range from $9.99 for a steering wheel-shaped toy to $64.99 for silver- or gold-colored stainless-steel dog bowls with real metal chain trim. “Caviar is encouraged but not required!” advises Snoop.

The 51-year-old performer and actor whose birth name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. is famous for his affinity for marijuana. One toy, the Deluxe Dog Doobie ($14.99), is shaped like a joint and equipped with an audio chip. When the toy is squeezed, users hear Snoop say, “It’s a Snoop Doggie doobie, baby. Fire it up!”

The collection is a three-way partnership between Snoop Dogg, South Sidebased based Little Earth Productions and SMAC Entertainment.

Little Earth Productions is a manufacturer of licensed sports apparel for professional and college teams and maker of “The Terrible Towel.”

Ava DeMarco, CEO and co-founder, said that with the pet apparel market taking off in the past several years, it was the perfect time to team up with Snoop Dogg. Her company coordinates design, development and manufacture of the products as well as sales and distribution.

It’s not a coincidence that Snoop chose to partner with a Pittsburgh company as he is a longtime Steelers fan. In July, he and Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa will come to The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown for the High School Reunion Tour 2023.

According to DeMarco, the idea of the pet line is that “your pet can live like Snoop. Live like royalty, don’t take anything seriously and most importantly, have fun.”

Snoop Doggie Doggs was launched before Thanksgiving 2022 and the rapper appears on various social media

platforms posing with pets sporting the apparel.

In a video promoting the new line, Snoop is seen rapping in a recording studio with a German shepherd wearing a black hoodie adorned with a gold chain from the Snoop Doggie Doggs line.

The products can be purchased in retail stores such as Kohls, Petco, PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus and online on Amazon or snoopdoggiedoggs.com.
