Highlights from major constructi­on projects around Pittsburgh and surroundin­g areas this week

1. Birmingham Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Ramp from the northbound lane to Forbes Avenue closed through Wednesday for painting. Detour posted.

2. Charles Anderson Memorial Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Bridge that carries the Boulevard of the Allies over a ravine in Oakland closed to vehicles as a result of problems found during an inspection. Remains open to pedestrian­s and bicyclists. Detours posted.

3. I- 79, I- 279: Watch for lane crossovers southbound between I- 279, the Red Mud Hollow Road overpass, Emsworth/ Sewickley Route 65 ( Exit 66) and the Neville Island Bridge. Work will continue through late November.

4. I- 79/ Kennedy, Robinson, Neville, Glenfield: Single- lane and shoulder restrictio­ns in both directions from about a half- mile north of the Route 60 ( Crafton/ Moon Run) interchang­e to the Neville Island Bridge, 7 p. m. to 6 a. m. through mid- May. Work includes median and shoulder widening in preparatio­n for a traffic crossover.

5. Camp Meeting Road/ Bell Acres: Closed between Charleston Square and North Avenue until sometime in April for slope stabilizat­ion work, Traffic detoured using Beaver Street, Little Sewickley Creek Road and Fern Hollow Road.

6. Cornell Avenue, Thornburg Bridge ( Route 60)/ Robinson, Crafton, Pittsburgh: Closure through midJune of Cornell Avenue as part of the preservati­on work on the Thornburg Bridge in Robinson, Crafton and Pittsburgh. Detour posted.

7. Millers Run Road/ South Fayette: Inspection of the Millers Run Road Bridge between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road found advanced deteriorat­ion of the structure, leading to closure until further notice.

8. Roberto Clemente ( Sixth Street) Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilita­tion until December.

9. 10th Street Pittsburgh: Closed between I279 Parkway North/ Fort Duquesne Bridge and Fort Duquesne Boulevard through 6 a. m. April 3. Work is part of rehabilita­tion of the Roberto Clemente Bridge. After the bypass is opened April 3, singlelane restrictio­ns will continue into June. Traffic detoured via Fort Duquesne Boulevard.

10. Rachel Carson ( Ninth Street) Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Closed from 8 p. m. to 6 a. m. weekday nights for installati­on of enhanced lighting.

11. Smithfield Street Bridge/ Pittsburgh: One lane of the bridge closed long term for preservati­on work, but bidirectio­nal traffic maintained. Motorists also will see lane restrictio­ns on East Carson Street, Fort Pitt Boulevard and I- 376 ( Parkway East).

12. Mt. Royal Boulevard/ Shaler, Hampton townships: Single- lane alternatin­g traffic between Dehaven Avenue and Craighead Road, 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. weekdays through March 31 for drilling operations.

13. Route 28/ Pittsburgh, Aspinwall, Sharpsburg and north: Single- lane restrictio­ns in both directions in O’Hara,

Harmar, Springdale, Frazer and East Deer.

14. Highland Park Bridge/ Sharpsburg: The left- hand lane from the Highland Park Bridge/ Freeport Road interchang­e to Route 28 closed continuous­ly through late August. Crews will conduct bridge reconstruc­tion, drainage improvemen­t, roadway reconstruc­tion, highway lighting and traffic signal work. Also, bridge inspection work southbound from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. Monday will cause lane restrictio­ns.

15. Highland Park Bridge/ Pittsburgh: Constructi­on resumes on the ramp leading to Route 28 south. Work had been suspended for winter. The three- year project to add separate exit lanes to the bridge to create a continuous flow of two lanes of traffic in each direction from Pittsburgh’s North Side to Kittanning should finish by the end of the year. Motorists who normally use the bridge to head south on Route 28 should use the 62nd Street Bridge instead. If there are no delays, the southbound ramp should open May 19.

16. McClaren Road/ Moon: Ongoing stabilizat­ion work. The road has been closed between Sabre and Resurrecti­on roads since June 2018 due to a landslide, and it is expected to reopen in May. Detours posted.

17. Brodhead Road/ several locations: Improvemen­t work means single- lane alternatin­g traffic in the two- lane sections of Brodhead between Garnet Street in Moon and Katrina Drive in Center and singlelane restrictio­ns in each direction in the four- lane sections. Work will occur from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. daily and from 6 p. m. to 6 a. m. through the duration of the project. Weekend work will occur as needed.

18. Bocktown Road/ Crescent: A portion of the road has closed due to a landslide. Local traffic will be accommodat­ed to the slide area. Through traffic will be detoured via Route 51 and Harper Road.

19. Ardmore Boulevard ( Route 30)/ Forest Hills: Single- lane restrictio­ns between Bevington Road and Kenmore Avenue weekdays through early July.

20. McKees Rocks Bridge: Traffic reduced to a single lane in each direction through early July for full preservati­on. Trucks and other oversize loads detoured via the West End Bridge.

21. McKeesport- Duquesne Bridge: Lane restrictio­ns and flagging operations weekdays from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. through April 7 for inspection work.

22. Route 65 and Interstate 79/ Glenfield: Long- term closure of the ramps from Route 65 to southbound I- 79 at the Neville Island Bridge begins Monday. Work involves the ramps that carry traffic from Route 65 in both directions to southbound I- 79 will close to traffic continuous­ly through early June as crews conduct bridge painting operations on the I- 79 bridge over Deer Run. All ramp traffic will be detoured.

23. Routes 837, 885/ Pittsburgh: Around- the- clock closing of one lane of the ramp that carries traffic from northbound Route 837 to southbound Route 885 ( Glass Road Road/ Mifflin Road exit). A single lane of traffic will be maintained on the ramp through mid- September while crews construct a pedestrian walkway. Additional­ly, Baldwin Road will be narrowed between Glass Run Road and Mifflin Road through mid- September.

24. Blythedale Road ( Route 2017)/ Elizabeth Township: Closed between Fallen Timber Road and Shaler Street for slide repair work through early June. Detours posted.

25. Greensburg Road ( Route 366)/ Plum: Lane

shifts for replacemen­t of Pucketa Creek Bridge No. 5, which carries Lincoln Beach Drive. Work continues into December.

26. Millers Run Road ( Route 978)/ South Fayette: Millers Run Road Bridge closed for rehabilita­tion between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road. Detours posted.

27. Grant Avenue/ Millvale: Pittsburgh Regional Transit unable to serve most of Millvale after an inspection found the weight limit had to be reduced on the Grant Avenue Bridge.

28. Wildwood Road/ Hampton: Long- term closure of the bridge that carries Wildwood over Willow Run and the Allegheny Valley Railroad. All traffic detoured through early November.

29. Armstrong Tunnel/ Pittsburgh: Closed inbound for rehabilita­tion project. Additional­ly, the right lane for inbound traffic on Second Avenue closed at the intersecti­on with the tunnel. Detours posted. Inbound tunnel expected to reopen during winter 2024, when the outbound tunnel and adjacent sidewalk will be closed.

30. Cliff Mine Road/ North Fayette: Closed between Logan Road and Gorwood Drive through August for constructi­on of a roadway support structure and other work. Detour posted.

31. Westinghou­se Avenue ( Route 2037)/ North Versailles: Slide repair work has closed the avenue between Route 148 and Mahoning Road. Detours posted.

32. Clever Road/ Robinson, Kennedy: Overhead constructi­on work on I- 79 means lane restrictio­ns between Aiken Road Extension and Pitchfork Drive.
