Matthew Tkachuk snapped a tie in the opening minute of the third period — his 39th goal of the season — and the Florida Panthers beat the Buffalo Sabres, 21, Tuesday night in Sunrise, Fla., to again leapfrog the Penguins in the Eastern Conference wild-card standings.

The win stretched the Panthers’ winning streak to a season-high four games and moved them into a tie with the New York Islanders for the top spot in the wildcard race, one point ahead of the Penguins. All three teams have four games remaining.

Aaron Ekblad also scored for Florida, and Alex Lyon made 40 saves for his fourth straight win.
