Claims Group A in world hockey
Dylan Samberg scored in overtime and the United States beat Sweden 4-3 Tuesday to finish the group stage of the world hockey championships undefeated.
Samberg’s winner from the slot 1:37 into overtime clinched first place for the United States in Group A, two points in front of Sweden, ahead of quarterfinal games Thursday.
Nick Bonino also scored for the United States, which will face Czech Republic Thursday.
Elsewhere: Canada defeated the Czech Republic 3-1 to finish second in Group B.
Auto racing
Graham Rahal, who failed to make the 33-car Indianapolis 500 field in qualifying, will take the seat of injured driver Stefan Wilson. Wilson was hospitalized with a cracked vertebra after a practice accident Monday. Rahal will start 25th.

Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL have agreed on the framework of a three-year contract extension that will keep him in place until 2027. Goodell has been commissioner since 2006.

Wild Things
Craig Massey and Brennan Price combined for seven RBIs as Florence routed Washington, 12-1, in Frontier League play. The Y’alls roughed up Wild Things starter Justin Showalter for eight runs and nine hits in four innings.
