There’s a darkness on the edge of town tonight.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September, beginning with Thursday’s show in Syracuse and including Sept. 12 and 14 concerts at PPG Paints Arena.

In a Wednesday night post on the band site, it noted, “Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows.”

Springsteen commented, “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support.

“We’ve been having a blast at our U.S. shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon.”

“Love and God bless all, Bruce”

Springsteen, renowned for his high-energy, threehour concerts with the E Street Band, recently performed three nights in his home state of New Jersey.

Springsteen and the E Street Band’s first tour in six years kicked off in Tampa, Florida, in February. He was forced to postpone shows planned for Albany, N.Y., Connecticut and Columbus, Ohio, in March due to illness.

The postponed shows also include scheduled stops in Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Ohio.

Springsteen turns 74 later this month. Peptic ulcer disease causes ulcers to form in the stomach or small intestine that can cause heartburn, nausea and stomach pain.
