Kings extend road streak

Tie NHL mark with 10th win in row

Drew Doughty scored 33 seconds into overtime and the Los Angeles Kings rallied from a three-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-3, for the NHL record-tying 10th consecutiv­e road win.

Phoenix Copley stopped 26 shots for the Kings, who matched the road win record of the 2006- 07 Buffalo Sabres.

Phillip Danault scored twice, Arthur Kaliyev added a goal and Vladislav Gavrikov contribute­d a pair of assists in his first game back in Columbus after being traded to Los Angeles in March.

“Our team feels good about itself,” Kings coach Todd McLellan said. “We have confidence, but with confidence comes responsibi­lity and we didn’t have a lot of it early in the game.”

Other games Senators 6, Rangers 2:

Brady Tkachuk and Vladimir Tarasenko each scored twice to lead host Ottawa past league-leading New York (185-1). Anton Forsberg made 33 saves for the Senats, while Claude Giroux and Drake Batherson also scored for the Senators.

Red Wings 5, Sabres 3: Dylan Larkin scored twice as

Detroit raced to a 4-0 lead and held on to defeat the Sabres in Buffalo, N.Y. Robby Fabbri, Moritz Seider and Michael Rasmussen also scored for the Red Wings, who won for the sixth time in seven games. Alex Lyon made 29 saves.

Sharks 5, Islanders 4: William Eklund scored in the closing seconds of overtime, Tomas Hertl had a hat trick and San Jose Sharks erased a three-goal, third-period deficit to win in New York. Kevin Labanc also scored and Kaapo Kahkonen made 33 saves for the Sharks. The hat trick for Hertl was the sixth of his career.

Notes

NHL Commission­er Gary Bettman said the league is moving forward with holding the 2024 draft at The Sphere in Las Vegas, the new venue that opened in September and bills itself as the largest spherical structure in the world. Bettman said contracts still need to be finalized, but the league is excited about the possibilit­ies for the draft.

• Newly signed Red Wings forward Patrick Kane made the trip to Buffalo and participat­ed in the morning skate, but did not play. He is expected to make his season debut later this week.
