Clark’s big night ignites Dukes

-

Jimmy Clark III scored 24 points and Andrei Savrasov pulled down nine rebounds to lead visiting Duquesne men’s team to an 85-72 win at Marshall on Wednesday in Huntington, W.Va.

Trailing 12-7 in the first half, the Dukes (6-1) used a 12-0 surge to open up a 2112 lead with 7:55 left in the first half. They took the lead on Clark’s 3-pointer midway in the first half and stayed in control till the finish. Stout perimeter defense played a big role for Duquesne, which limited the Thundering Herd (2-6) 4-for-25 shooting (16.0%) on 3-point attempts.

“Jimmy was really the key for us,” Dukes coach Keith Dambrot said. “He put us on his back during that run.”

Cameron Crawford scored 20 points to pace Marshall.

The Dukes return home to face Saint Peter’s (3-4) on Friday.
