Choo Choo

Choo Choo is a 3-year-old, mixed breed dog who has been at Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh’s Homewood shelter for over a year.

This 50-pounder has a heart full of hope and resilience and just needs an adopter who is patient, understanding and can provide the love and security that she needs. She comes from a rough background and can be quite anxious at times, but with time and patience, she will melt into you for love and pets.

Choo Choo enjoys long naps, sniffing games, puzzles and hot dogs. She also gets the occasional case of the zoomies. There’s nothing more gratifying than seeing her play-bow at you when she’s comfortable.

Choo Choo will thrive in a calm and nurturing environment with a structured routine. She has been on field trips with volunteers and they report that she is a quiet, playful companion. Due to her past, she is nervous around other dogs but may be open to a smaller, laid-back companion who she can learn from. She would have to meet any potential canine siblings.

A sweet soul who yearns for human connection, she would prefer to be a homebody and will take time to learn and explore her new home. If

you’d like to gain a loyal and loving companion and give Choo Choo a chance at a better life, Humane Animal Rescue’s East Side shelter is open for walk-in adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Sunday. Visit humaneanimalrescue.org for more information.

Narnia

Narnia is a 6-year-old, 14-pound tuxedo cat who came to Animal Friends from a hoarding situation in October 2022. His favorite toy is a teaser wand and his favorite treats are yummy Churu purees.

This shy guy prefers to be the “only child” in a home — no other cats or kids — and needs lots of patience and love. After over a year in a shelter, Narnia is ready for a home where he can relax and enjoy all that life can bring.

Silo

Silo is a 4-year-old, 13-pound cat who is approachable and sweet — the epitome of a laid-back kitty. She enjoys lounging in cozy spots and basking in the sunlight by a window. She loves a tasty treat and will headbutt you for pets!

Silo hasn’t lived with other cats before so it is recommended to go slow on introductions to others. She would thrive in a tranquil environment where her calm demeanor can truly shine. Her perfect home would include plenty of spots to lounge, a sunny window for birdwatching and a patient human or family who understands the art of gentle bonding. Her friendly disposition ensures that you’ll never feel alone with Siloby your side.

She is currently living at Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh’s North Side shelter, which is open for walk-in adoptions from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday through Sunday. To learn more about Silo, go to humaneanimalrescue.org.
