Miami gets best of Magic

Heat win battle of the Florida teams

Jimmy Butler scored 23 points to lead seven Miami players in double figures, and the host Heat beat the Orlando Magic, 121- 95, on Tuesday night.

Butler also had eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals for the Heat. Terry Rozier scored 18 while Tyler Herro and All-Star Bam Adebayo each scored 13 for Miami.

Orlando was within 10 in the fourth when Butler went on a personal 8-0 run to put the game away. All-Star forward Paolo Banchero scored 23 for Orlando.

The Heat never trailed Tuesday and pulled into a tie with the Magic atop the Southeast Division with identical 27-24 records. But Miami won the season series 3-1, big in case that tiebreaker comes into play for playoff seeding.

“I love the fact that it is becoming a rivalry and that we can rekindle that,” Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said.

Pascal Siakam scored 29 points and teamed up with Chartiers Valley grad T. J. McConnell to spur a third -quarter comeback, sending host Indiana past Houston. McConnell had 17 points and four assists. Siakam and McConnell combined for 17 of Indiana’s 38 points in the third quarter.

Mavericks 119, Nets 107:

Kyrie Irving scored 36 points in a dazzling return to Brooklyn exactly one year after he was traded to Dallas, leading the Mavericks to a win against the host Nets. Luka Doncic had 35 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists for Dallas.

Knicks 123, Grizzlies 113:

Jalen Brunson had 27 points and eight assists before exiting with an apparent ankle injury, and host New York hung on for a win against Memphis.

Bulls 129, Timberwolv­es 123, OT:

Coby White and DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points apiece, and host Chicago erased a 23-point deficit in a victory against Minnesota.

Notes

Atlanta’s Trae Young and Toronto’s Scottie Barnes will play in the NBA’s All-Star Game. Young is now an AllStar for the third time and Barnes is making his debut in the game.

Young and Barnes are injury replacemen­ts. They’re replacing Philadelph­ia’s Joel Embiid and New York’s Julius Randle. Embiid had knee surgery on Tuesday and Randle is dealing with a dislocated shoulder.
