Check this out: Resnik, a sophomore, returns for her second year as Elizabeth Forward’s shortstop and leadoff hitter. Elizabeth Forward is 3-0 and Resnik is batting .556 (5 for 9) with two home runs and seven RBIs. Last season as a freshman, she hit .573 with nine doubles, nine triples, three home runs, 31 RBIs and 33 runs scored. She struck out only three times and committed just one error while helping the Warriors to a 20-2 record. Her sister Anna is a junior shortstop at Robert Morris University.

When did you start playing softball and who introduced you to the sport? I was in pre-school when I started playing. I wanted to do what my sister Anna was doing. I’ve wanted to be like her since I was 5 years old.

Can you give us your expectations for the team this year? We made it to the WPIAL and PIAA semifinals last year. Our goal is to take it a step further this year and win both titles.

Did you enjoy your trip to Florida for the KSA Tournament? It was great to play in Florida again this year. The weather was amazing. We also got to spend some time at Universal’s Volcano Bay [water park].

Do you play any other sports? I played and lettered on the volleyball team in the fall. I also started on the basketball team my freshman year, but didn’t play this year because I wanted to concentrate on winning a softball championship.

Are you planning to continue your athletic career in college? My goal is to play college softball. As a sophomore, I haven’t really looked at that much yet. On Sept. 1, I can start talking to coaches.

If you could attend any sporting event, what would it be? I would really like to see the women’s softball [NCAA Division I] World Series in Oklahoma City.

Are you watching the NCAA men’s or women’s basketball tournament? I’ve been watching a little bit of both tournaments. My favorite team is Iowa. Caitlin Clark has insane talent. She is so fun to watch.

Is there an athlete you look up to as a role model? My sister has been my role model for my whole life. I always wanted to be a shortstop and leadoff hitter because I was following her lead.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I like to work out a lot. I run at least a mile on my treadmill every day. I also lift weights at home.
