Suspect charged in Fayette County shooting death
Pennsylvania State Police have charged a man with homicide in the shooting of an 83-year-old resident of Fayette County.
Norman Pennington, 62, of Cardale, Fayette County, is accused of killing Anthony Decenzo Sr., of Brownsville, according to a criminal complaint.
Mr. Pennington was also charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and tampering with physical evidence. He was being held in the Fayette County Jail without bail, according to court records.
He faces a preliminary hearing April 29.
State police said that while being interviewed on Wednesday, Mr. Pennington contended he shot Mr. Decenzo in self-defense before throwing the firearm into a creek.
Mr. Decenzo was reported missing by his family after he left home Friday to look at real estate. His body was found Saturday morning in his car on Riffle Hollow Road in German Township, according to state police.
