Gene Collier gets Trump. Other media don’t

-

I recently subscribed to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette after reading some Gene Collier columns on Donald Trump. Gene did a great job of explaining Trump to his readers.

That is encouraging because it seems that much of the news media has decided that it’s not part of their job description to educate us about the differences between the freedoms of democracy under Biden versus the loss of freedoms in a dictatorship under Trump.

The news media of today could probably teach us thoroughly about the dictator threat to US democracy if the Trump threat was foreign, like Hitler was.

But since Trump is a domestic, internal threat many in the news media focus too much on journalistic neutrality or something of the sort. And they make the horrifying decision not to get involved much in teaching voters about Trump and his unprecedented threat to US freedoms.

An irony: I have come to realize that if I want to learn more about Trump’s threats to our freedoms, late-night comedians are a better source of such information than much of the so-called news media. My suggestion: listen to 2 to 3 late night comedians daily to get a clearer picture of Trump.

With the exception of people like Collier, he easily manipulates the news media. For example, after some of his court hearings he has been given free camera time for little speeches, often with no fact checking by news media. He cannot so easily manipulate the comedians.
