Martín Espada of Amherst, Massachusetts, won the 2016–2017 John William Corrington Award for Literary Excellence. Espada, whose most recent book is the poetry collection Visa to Those Who Have Failed (Norton, 2016), received $2,000. The annual award recognizes a career of dedication to literary excellence. There is no application process.
