- TUFTS POETRY AWARDS

Vievee Francis of Hanover, New Hampshire, won the 25th annual Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award for her poetry collection Forest Primeval (TRIQUARTER­LY Books, 2016). Francis received $100,000 and a weeklong appointmen­t as poetin-residence at Claremont Graduate University. The annual award is given for a book of poetry by a midcareer poet published in the previous year. Phillip B. Williams of Bennington, Vermont, won the 24th annual Kate Tufts Discovery Award for Thief in the Interior (Alice James Books, 2016). Williams received $10,000. The annual award is given for a first book of poetry published in the previous year. The judges for both awards were Elena Karina Byrne, Terrance Hayes, Meghan O’Rourke, Don Share, and Brian Kim Stefans. The next deadline is July 1.
