- AWARD FOR FICTION

Imbolo Mbue of New York City won the 2017 PEN/Faulkner Award for her novel, Behold the Dreamers (Random House).

She received $15,000. The finalists were Viet Dinh of Wilmington, Delaware, for his novel, After Disasters (Little A);

Louise Erdrich of Minneapoli­s for her novel LaRose (Harper Collins); Garth Greenwell of Iowa City for his novel, What Belongs to You (Farrar, Straus and Giroux); and Sunil Yapa of upstate New York, for his novel, Your Heart Is a Muscle the Size of a Fist (Little, Brown). They each received $5,000. Chris Abani, Chantel Acevedo, and Sigrid Nunez judged. The annual award is given for a work of fiction by a U.S. writer published in the previous year. As of this writing, the next deadline has not been set.
