WRITING FELLOWSHIPS
Ten emerging poets and fiction writers have received writing fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center. The First-Year Fellows in poetry are Hannah Beresford of Voorheesville, New York; David Hutcheson of Carrboro, North Carolina; Candace Gayle Wiley of York, South Carolina; and H. R. Webster of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Leslie Marie Aguilar of Abilene, Texas, received the Second-Year Fellowship in poetry. The First-Year Fellows in fiction are Brendan Bowles of Amherst, Massachusetts;
David Hoon Kim of Costa Mesa, California; Gabriel Louis of Washington, D.C.; and Christa Romanosky of Pittsburgh. Frances Hwang of El Cerrito, California, received the Second-Year Fellowship in fiction. A panel of writers judged the First-Year Fellowship competition; Kimiko Hahn selected the Second-Year Fellow in poetry, and Nam Le selected the Second-Year Fellow in fiction.
Each fellow will receive a seven-month residency at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts, from October 1 to April 30 and a monthly stipend of $750. The annual awards are given to 10 poets and fiction writers. The next deadline is December 1.
