Tucson Festival of Books
Lynne Thompson of Los Angeles won the poetry award for “Genesis and Other Poems.” Dana Levin judged. Carrie Bindschadler of Oxford, Ohio, won the fiction award for her short story “Tortoise.” Mark Beauregard judged. Lee Anne Gallaway-Mitchell of Tucson won the nonfiction award for her essay “Good Lands of Mercy.” Donna Steiner judged. The winners each received $1,000 and were invited to attend the ninth annual Tucson Festival of Books in March 2018. The annual awards are given for a group of five poems, a short story, an essay, or an excerpt from a novel or memoir.
