Nicole Tong of Fairfax, Virginia, won the 2017 Jean Feldman Poetry Prize for her collection How to Prove a Theory. Jacob R. Weber of Laurel, Maryland, won the 2017 Washington Writers Fiction Prize for his story collection Don’t Wait to be Called. They each received $1,000 and publicatio­n by Washington Writers Publishing House. The annual awards are given for a poetry collection and a short story collection or novel by writers who live in Washington, D.C. or in Maryland or Virginia within a 75-mile radius of the U.S. Capitol.
