American Literary Translators Association Conference
The 43rd annual American Literary Translators Association Conference will be held online from September 30 through October 18, culminating in two days of all-day programming on October 17 and October 18. The conference features panels, workshops, readings, a book fair, and opportunities to converse with editors and translators. The 2020 theme is “In Between.” The cost of general registration is $50 or $100 through October 18. Using only the online application system, submit a writing sample of up to 50 pages, a résumé, a one-page project proposal, and a letter of recommendation (sent directly to the program by the reference) by October 15. The faculty for the October session, which is open to all poets with a book-length or chapbook-length manuscript, includes Gabriel Fried, Joan Houlihan, Kevin Prufer, and Martha Rhodes. The faculty for the November Intensive session includes Joan Houlihan and Martha Rhodes; the session is open to poets who have published a book, have already attended a Colrain conference, or have been a finalist or semifinalist for a book contest. The cost of the conference is $1,000 for the October session and $1,200 for the November intensive. Using only the online application system, submit three or four poems and a brief bio.
