Kids Fest wristbands on sale

Wristbands are still on sale for the Spring Kids Fest presented by Giovanni’s Pizzeria. This carnival for kids is taking place on April 1 at the Portervill­e Sports Complex from 12-3:30 p.m.

The Kids Fest will feature a 100 foot giant slide, spinning teacups, a wrecking ball ride, trackless train and jump around dune buggies, plus there will be numerous bounce houses and obstacle courses. There will also be food, games, resource booths, local performers and a special show by E& M’s Reptile Family at 2:30 p.m.

The rides and games are designed for children ages 2-12, but the whole family can enjoy the festivitie­s. Admission to the park is free, however, children must have a wristband to participat­e in the activities. Wristbands can be purchased for $4 at the Heritage Center, located at 256 E. Orange Ave., or for $6 at the event.

This year’s Kids Fest is presented by Giovanni’s Pizzeria who has been providing fun for kids in our community since 2007. It is also sponsored by Town and Country Market, Maria Garcia, State Farm Agent, Portervill­e Breakfast Lions, Portervill­e Breakfast Rotary Club, Galaxy Theatres and K-TIP Radio. Poker and cigars fundraiser for VADS

A no-limit Texas hold’em poker and cigars fundraiser for Valley Adult Day Services (VADS) will be held on Saturday.

Lunch and registrati­on begins at 11 a.m. at the VADS facility, 227 E. Oak Ave. Cards in the air at noon.

Buy-in of $75 per person includes lunch, poker and raffle ticket and $5,000 in chips. Poker format is 15 minute rounds with $20 re-buys, $2,500 in chips, for the first three rounds with a $30 add-on, $3,000 in chips, at the end of the first break. Cash prize to top four of poker tournament.

Cigars, beer and wine will be available for purchase.

All money raised will help VADS.
