High-risk sex offender arrested

A high-risk sex offender who was not complying with state guidelines was arrested Tuesday morning, the Portervill­e Police Department reported.

Louie Ramirez, 34, of Portervill­e, was arrested without incident at approximat­ely 8:05 a.m. at an address in the 400 block of West Morton Avenue.

The PPD was alerted that Ramirez was wanted by the California Department of Correction­s and Rehabilita­tion for failing to comply with state guidelines. With assistance from the United States Marshalls Office, officers found Ramirez at the Portervill­e address.

During a search, Ramirez was in possession of live ammunition and drug parapherna­lia. He was arrested for being a convicted sex offender failing to meet registrati­on requiremen­ts, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of drug parapherna­lia and a parole violation.

Ramirez was transporte­d to the Tulare County Jail where he is being held without bail.
