‘Mulan, Jr.’ auditions at the Barn Theater

After Dr. Mary Shaw’s successful performances of “Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” this season, she is keeping it alive with another spectacular Disney favorite next season with “Mulan, Jr.” Auditions for this children’s classic musical will be on Saturday, May 6 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Barn Theater. Call-backs, if needed will be on May 7 and 8. Auditions are open to children, grades 2 through 9.

Children coming to the audition should be prepared to sing a short solo (with or without accompaniment) and learn some choreography.

Performances for “Mulan, Jr.” will be Aug. 25, 26, 27, Sept. 1,2, 3, 8, 9 and 10. Rehearsals will be held from May 16 through Aug. 24 on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday and Wednesdau evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Director Shaw says, “It will involve a lot of work and dedication, but as the students from past musicals can attest, it is really worth it.”
