Man rolls truck, leaves injured girlfriend behind

The driver of a pickup left his injured girlfriend in the truck after rolling it Thursday afternoon, the Portervill­e Police Department reported.

Officers responded at 4:57 p.m. Thursday to Orange Belt Drive and Linda Vista Avenue regarding a roll-over traffic collision. Alonzo Herrera, 36, rolled his Ford F-150 into the orange grove and fled on foot, leaving his girlfriend behind at the collision scene.

She complained of pain as a result of the collision and was transporte­d to Sierra View Medical Center for treatment.

Herrera was located hiding in an orange grove at North Grand and Main Street and was arrested. He was determined to be DUI and was booked into jail on felony driving under the influence collision and felony hitand-run charges.
