C. Lorraine Purcott

Lorraine Purcott was born in Ontario Ca. on February 8, 1922 to John Owen (Red) Wilson and Mary Pearl Wilson. She passed away on April 2, 2017 in Morro Bay. Ca., at the age of 95.

Her family moved to Lindsay in 1923 where she attended public schools and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1939.

In 1958 she was honored to be the first woman elected to the Lindsay High School Board of Trustees.

In 1962 she became proprietor to the Mount Whitney Hotel, where she ran a catering business to many service organizati­ons, including the Lindsay High School Athletic Boosters Club. Two years later she moved to San Francisco where she was a legal secretary to a prominent tax attorney law firm. Later she worked for ABC television news station and accepted the position of controller at Marine World/africa USA.

In 1969 she married Robert J. Purcott, together they enjoyed many cruises and Jazz festivals throughout the United States. Bob and Lorraine were proud members of the Fresno Dixieland Jazz Society where Lorraine served as Treasurer.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Purcott of Morro Bay, sons,

Doug Paul of Portervill­e, Dave Paul of Visalia, 6 grandchild­ren, 13 great grandchild­ren and 11 great great grandchild­ren.

Graveside service will be held at Lindsay/strathmore District Cemetary on Thursday May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
