sign-ups for the City of Porterville youth volleyball league will take place on May 1. This league is open to those ages entering the 4-8 grade in the fall of 2017. Practices and games will start in June.

Quintet will perform at 7 p.m. in room CA-2 at Porterville College. Comprised of the top brass section players in the Tulare County, Kings County and Bakersfield Symphonies, these five players have appeared numerous times in the past, always delighting the audience with the performance and banter, organizers said. Their program includes traditional favorites, arranged for brass quintet, and even a few surprises. A free-will offering will be accepted to help defray their transportation costs. Bingo is offered by Porterville High Booster Club each Monday night. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the games begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Porterville High School cafeteria. The next Porterville Historical Museum monthly Casino Bus trip to Eagle Mountain Casino will be Tuesday, April 25. Happy hour at Giovanni’s Pizzeria is from 5 to 6 p.m., with drinks priced at $1 each. A casino trip ticket is required in order to get the special price drinks. The bus has two pick up locations, one at Giovanni’s Pizzeria at 45 N. 2nd St.. The second is the Casino Parking Lot Number 4 on Highway 190 at Avenue 248. The buses head up to the casino at 6 p.m. and feature games that are played on the bus to pass the time. Customer can drive themselves up to the Casino but must sign in and have a ticket. Cost for the casino trip is $10 per person and includes the bus trip, games on the bus, museum only slot tournament, a food voucher, and $25 Summit Club Card credit to use for gambling. The trip lasts from 6-10 p.m. A valid identification card is needed if a person does not already have a Summit Club Card. All monies are used to help support the Porterville Historical Museum and its continuing mission to preserve the past for future generations. The Museum is located in the old Southern Pacific passenger depot that was built in 1913 and is located at 257 N. D St. For more information, call the Museum at 784-2053 or 350-0373.
