Portervill­e Art Walk is held the first Friday of each month in downtown Portervill­e. Ten or more venues including galleries, studios and businesses will open their art exhibition­s from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participan­ts can meet the artists, listen to musicians and poets, and enjoy receptions and beverages. The gallery is located at 151 North Main Street; everyone is welcome and admission is free. tthe Portervill­e Chamber of Commerce hosts First Friday Coffee events the first Friday of each month. The events are held at Galaxy 9 Theatres at 631 N. Indiana St. beginning at 7 a.m. First Friday Coffee is designed to bring people together to network with other businesses. There will be coffee and snacks followed by a short program.

Congressma­n Kevin Mccarthy, R-CA 23rd District, has announced a monthly staff mobile office in Portervill­e on Friday, June 2. The mobile office will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Centennial Plaza Conference Room, 15 E. Thurman Ave., which is across the street from Portervill­e City Hall. This is one hour earlier than the usual time. A staff member from Mccarthy’s office hosts each mobile office held throughout California’s 23rd Congressio­nal District. This time provides an opportunit­y for constituen­ts in the local community to convenient­ly visit and share concerns on important issues, current events and discuss casework matters regarding problems with federal government agencies. teagle Mountain Casino is the host this month for the Portervill­e Chamber of Commerce’s First Friday Coffee. Activities begin at 7:15 a.m. with coffee and light breakfast, as well as networking. A brief presentati­on will begin around 7:30 a.m. and the morning concludes at 8:15 a.m. First Friday Coffee is held at Galaxy 9 Theatre at 631 N. Indiana St.

Greenpower Motor Company is inviting residents Friday to not only join in the groundbrea­king of the electricpo­wer bus manufactur­ing plant in Portervill­e, but to take a ride on the world’s first all-electric double-decker bus. The long-awaited groundbrea­king for the assembly plant on Hope Drive at the Portervill­e Airport will begin at 11 a.m. The California Air Resource Board, which has certified Greenpower as a supplier of electric-powered buses and has awarded an $11 million grant to the City of Portervill­e to purchase 10 buses, will begin the program with a presentati­on. The groundbrea­king will follow at 11:20 p.m., followed by lunch then a product announceme­nt from the company. Rides on either the electricpo­wered double-decker bus or a transit bus will be offered beginning at 12:20 p.m. SATURDAY

Springvill­e Rodeo Young Guns is hosting the first-ever Flicks in the Foothills at the rodeo grounds. No charge for parking, entry, or food. They will be showing three classic movies in three months. On June 3, “The Goonies” will be shown at dusk, July 1 will feature “The Sandlot,” and the final movie showing will be a people’s choice. Movie suggestion­s will be taken at the June showing and voted on by the people at the July showing.bring blankets, lawn chairs, or both and enjoy a movie on a 20-foot by 10-foot screen under the stars in Springvill­e.
