What is it that makes us sick? We know about bacteria, viruses, fungus and parasites. What else is there?

There are poisons all around us like pesticides and herbicides; things that kill bugs and weeds. Even the very food we eat becomes a poison in the tissues when it can’t get completely digested at every stage of the process. Other things that create a burden on the body’s tissues are non-nutrient chemicals in our food. These show up on the labels as “artificial” colors, flavors, preservatives or additives. Even emotions can get into the tissues and change the way the cells function. When the air gets so polluted that we can’t see the mountains, our lungs are being very busy protecting our body from the toxins that are coming in with every breath. One of the biggest mucous producers is pasteurized dairy and wheat products. The heat in the pasteurization process destroys the enzymes that help our bodies digest the dairy.

The body must protect its cells and tissues from these poisons and invaders, but how does it do it? Every opening in the body is designed with a protective mucous membrane. Everything under the skin is surrounded by water. Bacteria, viruses and poisons swim around like fish. To protect themselves, the tissues make the water around them harder to swim in. The water around the tissues starts to become a little more Jell-o-like. When our nose has to protect the body from air-born toxins, it can start to run a bit. The more the tissue protects itself, the thicker the mucous becomes. The sinuses can get a little stuffy, and our head may begin to hurt.

Another response the body has to its invaders is inflammation. This combined with mucous, over the years, puts the body at risk for more serious things to take hold. Many diseases have their beginnings right here with the body’s protective mechanism. How do we stop the progression into a disease? Our immune system is our main defense just like our Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines protect our country. When our immune system is strong, diseases stay away. When a disease or symptom gets to us, we know our immune system is getting weak.

Cancer cells do basically two things in our body. They know how to protect themselves with mucous as well. They wrap themselves in a blanket of mucous and hide from the attacks of the immune system. Then they chow down on sugar like it’s going out of style. (Side note: cancer cells can’t switch their metabolism over to burning fat for fuel like our cells can. If we teach our cells to burn fat and stop eating cancer food (sugar) we can help starve the cancer while we strengthen our immune system. “A word to the wise should be sufficient,” my high school English teacher used to tell us.

How do we strengthen our immune system? How do we get rid of too much mucous? The first step is to stop doing what we’re doing to cause the mucous in the first place. The second step is to help the body eliminate the mucous that collects in the tissues. Dr. Bernard Jensen says, in his book, “Dr. Jensen’s Guide to Better Bowel Care,” “I consider chlorophyll to be the master cleanser for catarrh (mucous) conditions. Catarrh is best eliminated from the body through the use of greens.” He recommends drinking one teaspoon liquid chlorophyll in eight ounces of distilled water.

The newest product from Golden Sunrise Pharmaceutical is its Kimo-herb. What we’re seeing with it is a stripping of the mucous layers from the body. It does this while building up the immune system. It is an intense cleansing experience that results in having a whole new lease on life with a nice remodeled body.

Until then … take charge … Sylvia.
