Bicyclist victim of DUI hit-and-run
Felipe Anaya, 33, of Porterville, was arrested for drunken driving and hit-and-run on Saturday night after colliding with a bicyclist, the Porterville Police Department reported.
Officers were dispatched at 8:18 p.m. Saturday to Morton Avenue and Belmont Street regarding a hit-and-run collision between a bicyclist and vehicle.
The 14-year-old bicyclist had been traveling eastbound on Morton on the south side of the roadway approaching Belmont Street. Anaya turned off of Morton Avenue into the path of the bicyclist, PPD reported. The bicyclist suffered abrasions and complaint of pain to his wrist and was released to his parents at the scene.
Anaya fled the scene and was later located at his residence. He was positively identified by a witness and determined to be intoxicated. Through the investigation it was determined Ayala had his 8-year-old son in the vehicle during the incident. Ayala was booked at PPD and later transported to TCSO for housing.
