Man arrested after brief chase

After attempting to flee from officers, Joel Sierra Ornelas, 35, of Porterville, was arrested on a felony arrest warrant Saturday morning, the Porterville Police Department reported.

Officers responded at 9:29 a.m. to the 500 block of West Morton Avenue regarding a male and female engaged in a verbal argument. The male was identified as Ornelas, PPD reported.

A record check revealed Ornelas was wanted for a felony probation violation and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Ornelas fled as the officer arrived and he was eventually found in the laundry room of a nearby apartment complex. Ornelas was arrested and booked for resisting arrest and the warrant.
