Mother faces murder charge in son’s death
1-month-old boy found unresponsive Saturday night
The mother of a 1-monthold boy in Terra Bella was jailed on a murder charge Tuesday, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department reported.
Tracy Alejandra Rodriguez, 24, was booked in the Adult Pre-trail Facility after the results of an autopsy showed her infant son died from “blunt force trauma” and began a homicide investigation.
At 11:18 p.m. on Saturday, Tulare County deputies responded to a residence in the 7200 block of Avenue 248, outside the community of Terra Bella, for a report of a nonresponsive child. Deputies found the infant not breathing and began CPR.
Ambulance personnel arrived on scene and confirmed the child was deceased.
The coroner’s office initiated an investigation which was immediately determined to be suspicious. Violent Crimes detectives responded and continued the investigation.
The coroner conducted an autopsy on the infant victim and on Tuesday determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Violent Crimes Detectives continue to investigate.
