Juan Javier Sanchez, 44, of Delano, was jailed again Friday and booked into the Tulare County Pretrial Facility. Bail was set at $740,000. He was arrested back on March 16 on similar charges but was released after detectives informed the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office they needed to look into the case more.
Friday’s arrest is a result of continued investigation stemming from the initial case. Tulare PD detectives identified another female student, name and age being withheld to protect the victim, who was had been having a sexual relationship with Sanchez in a classroom on the Tulare Union campus. The District Attorney’s Office filed charges and an arrest warrant was issued.
Sanchez was arrested without incident at his home in Delano on Friday.
Back on March 15 , the Tulare Police Department received a call from the Tulare Joint High School District Office in regards to a possible molestation case. They were advised that a teacher at TUHS, Sanchez, was having inappropriate relations with a student, prompting the call to the Tulare Police Department.
Sanchez was a Spanish instructor at Tulare Union High School for the past seven years. The investigation also identified the confidential victim as a student at Tulare Union High School and the sexual acts committed by Sanchez occurred on campus during school hours.
On March 16, Sanchez was arrested at the Tulare Joint High School District Office in Tulare and brought back to the Tulare Police Department. Sanchez was later transported and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail.
