Hamilton took new role while Stowe and Ward were away
The Porterville City Council ratified Tuesday the authority of council member Cameron Hamilton serving as Mayor Pro Tem during the months of June and July in the absence of Mayor Milt Stowe and Vice Mayor Brian Ward.

During the months of June and July, due to the excused absences of Stowe and Ward due to medical issues and out-of-country travel, respectively, there was a periodic need for a council member to serve as Mayor Pro Tem to ensure that time-sensitive business of the city was conducted, said Patrice Hildreth, the city’s administrative services director. As the council member with the longest tenure, Hildreth said in a staff report that Hamilton served in this capacity. Hildreth added that ratification of said service is appropriate. agreed to authorize the retention of Christopher L. Campbell of Baker, Manock and Jensen, at a rate of $300 per hour, for water rights expertise for projectspecific water issues.
approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District and the City of Porterville for grant administration services.
agreed to set a public hearing to consider an adoption of Resolution of Necessity for the acquisition of Assessor Parcel Number 255-190-022 for the regularly scheduled city council meeting of Sept. 19.
approved Family Healthcare Network’s 17th annual Health Fair and El Dia de la Familia y Feria de Salud 2017. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8 at Veteran’s Park. approved a resolution amending the employee pay and benefit plan for Porterville City Employees Association employees pursuant to the signed Memorandum of Understanding.
approved a resolution to amend the employee pay and benefit plan to account for changes pertaining to unrepresented management employees.
approved a request to proclaim Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week.
approved a conditional use permit to allow the use of a religious facility at 2440 W. Henderson Ave. approved the continuance of the declaration of local emergency.
The next city council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, in the council chambers at Porterville’s City Hall.
