SATUR­DAY The 11th An­nual Sierra View Foun­da­tion Gala will take place on Satur­day, Sept. 16, at the Porter­ville

Fair­grounds with doors open­ing at 5:30 p.m. To reg­is­ter and learn more about the Foun­da­tion, go to www.sier­raview.com/foun­da­tion. In­di­vid­ual reg­is­tra­tion and sponsorship op­por­tu­ni­ties are avail­able to be a part of bring­ing the lat­est tech­nol­ogy in in­fant se­cu­rity to the Porter­ville com­mu­nity. All pro­ceeds from the Gala will go di­rectly back to Sierra View Med­i­cal Cen­ter and the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the HUGS sys­tem for lo­cal moth­ers and their ba­bies.

The Women’s Min­istry of the First South­ern Bap­tist Church is host­ing a Salad Bar Lun­cheon on Satur­day, Sept. 16. The lo­ca­tion is 1641 W. Hen­der­son Ave. All are in­vited and ad­mis­sion is free. For more in­for­ma­tion, call Glenda Powell at 781-3607.

First Bap­tist Church Women’s Min­istry will be host­ing Bingo at 1 p.m. on Satur­day, Sept. 16. Cost is $10. Food, door prizes and fun. Pro­ceeds from this event will go to­ward church projects. The church is lo­cated at 101 N. G St. in Porter­ville. Call 784-1620 for more in­for­ma­tion.

The Porter­ville City Li­brary’s Adult Learn­ing Cen­ter will hold a spe­cial Fam­ily Lit­er­acy Day event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Satur­day, Sept. 16 at Cen­ten­nial Park. The event is in honor of Adult Lit­er­acy Aware­ness Month and lit­er­acy tu­tors, adult learn­ers and their fam­i­lies along with the com­mu­nity are in­vited. The fo­cus of the month is to ex­pand aware­ness about the need for adult lit­er­acy ser­vices in nearby com­mu­ni­ties and to re­cruit new tu­tors and other vol­un­teers to sup­port those pro­grams. Ac­tiv­i­ties at the event in­clude the fol­low­ing:

•Face paint­ing, ob­sta­cle course, raf­fle and mu­sic

•Hot dogs, chips and re­fresh­ments

•Chil­dren’s book walk

•Parks and Leisure booth with in­for­ma­tion, games and give­aways
