Who is writing

-

Editor,

I read an online quote the other day that really impressed me! Very simple. Goes like this. “When writing the story of your life, make sure your holding the pen!” Wow!

We need only to read our local paper, or watch the evening news to realize that a lot of folks out there are not holding the pen!

It’s obvious that they are allowing others to write into their life’s story some terrible and offensive things. In some cases, life stories have been penned by an individual’s drug dealer! Their mind and will have been totally taken over by these mind altering drugs! Talented individuals, uninhibited by these mind-altering drugs could indeed write a beautiful book for themselves!

Lawmakers never cared or considered the long-turn consequences of legalizing these drugs. Did they take into consideration the cost to the government in implementing the sales of these drugs, and the ultimate cost of supporting these individuals who no longer has a mind to work? Who is writing their story?

It’s the government agency that is taking away that person’s self-respect by issuing free phones, free medical, free food stamps, free, free, free! Nothing, my friend is free!

When a man or woman’s will to help themselves is taken away, it’s taking the pen out of a person’s hand, and placing it into the government’s hand! Do we not see where all of this is headed?

We must wake up! No wonder there is so much discontent and animosity in our country. The American people are no longer holding the pen! We are allowing drug dealers, and paid-off government officials on many civic levels.

At this point, I leave this thought with your readers. We must ask ourselves if we want to write the story of our lives, or do we want others to do it? If we allow others to do it, trust me, we wont like the ending! It’s up to us! Elaine Harris
