Strath­more vol­ley­ball im­proved to 2-0 in the East Se­quoia League with a 3-1 win on the road against Sierra Pa­cific Wed­nes­day.

Strath­more vol­ley­ball im­proved to 2-0 in the East Se­quoia League with a 3-1 win on the road against Sierra Pa­cific Wed­nes­day.

The Spar­tans (9-9) won the first set 27-25, dropped the sec­ond 2516 and won the next two 25-20 and 25-21.

Is­abella Galang led Strath­more with 31 as­sists, six kills and four aces. Lucy Bennett had 10 digs, seven kills and three blocks while Emily Kis­sick fin­ished with 15 kills, 14 digs and aces.


Cerro Coso 3 Porter­ville 1

Porter­ville Col­lege vol­ley­ball lost 3-1 on the road to Cerro Coso in Wed­nes­day’s Cen­tral Val­ley Con­fer­ence match. It was the Pi­rates sev­enth straight loss and fifth in con­fer­ence.

The team lost the first and sec­ond sets 25-10 and 25-23, but won the third set 25-21. Porter­ville lost the fi­nal set 25-21.


Sierra Pa­cific 13 Strath­more 11

Strath­more boys wa­ter polo lost 13-11 on the road to Sierra Pa­cific in Wed­nes­day’s East Se­quoia League game.

Corey Perigo led the Spar­tans (5-8, 1-1 ESL) with four goals fol­lowed by Sam Wilkin­son with three. Moses Bower and Owen Pat­ter­son each had two goals as well.


Porter­ville 6 Mis­sion Oak 3

Porter­ville girls ten­nis moved to 5-1 in East Yosemite League play with a 6-3 win over Mis­sion Oak at home Wed­nes­day.

The Pan­thers took a 4-2 lead in singles with wins from No. 1 Claire Nuno (6-2, 6-1), No. 2 Jenny Smithey (6-1, 6-0), No. 4 Chloe Weaver (6-4, 6-0) and No. 5 Sierra Mitchel (6-2, 6-2).

The team sealed the win in dou­bles with vic­to­ries from No. 1 Nuno and Smithey and No. 3 Han­nah Walker and Erica Palad.

Gran­ite Hills girls ten­nis lost 9-0 to the de­fend­ing East Se­quoia League cham­pi­ons, Cor­co­ran, at home on Thurs­day.

Orosi 5 Strath­more 4

Strath­more girls ten­nis lost 5-4 to Orosi in Thurs­day’s East Se­quoia League match.

In singles for Strath­more, No. 1 Arelli Adams won 8-2 and No. 5 Ka­cie Bel­lisch won 8-4.

The Spar­tans duo of

Adams and Neha Reddy won the No. 1 dou­bles match 8-2. Jes­sica Le­vitte and Tay­lor Si­monich won the No. 3 dou­bles match 8-7, as well as the tiebreaker 7-5. Mis­sion Oak 290 Porter­ville 338

Porter­ville girls golf fell 290-338 to Mis­sion Oak in Thurs­day’s East Yosemite League match

at River Is­land Coun­try Club.

The Pan­thers low medal­ist was An­gela Eu­gene with 58. Other scor­ers for PHS were Ju­lia Hunter (61), Uniese Car­rillo (70), Dora Jimenez (74), Kayla John­son (75).

PHS head coach David Her­rera said the team strug­gled a lit­tle more on their short game but ev­ery­one played hard and never gave up.
