white River Prospectors, the Porterville Chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America, meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Gold Hills Clubhouse at 720 E. Worth Dr. in Porterville. The meetings, and membership in the chapter, are free and open to the public. Members participate in gold panning, prospecting, metal detecting, outings and informative meetings. Teaching opportunities are also available. The American Legion Post 20 and Legion Riders Chapter 20 meets every first and third Wednesday of the month at the Veteran’s Memorial Building at 1900 W. Olive Avenue. Social hour begins at 6 p.m. and the Legion Riders meeting begins at 6 p.m. followed by the American Legion Post meeting at 7 p.m. The third Wednesday features a potluck dinner. The City of Lindsay will hold a fall cleanup event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 5-7 at 467 N. Mt. Vernon Ave. The cleanup event is for city residents only. Residents must provide a utility bill and ID. There is a $5 charge per load and a max of two loads per address per day. Only cash will be accepted.
