Council approves streetlight installations for Jaye Street Bridge Project
Going to cost a little over $19,000
The Porterville City Council approved Tuesday the costs associated with streetlight installations for the Jaye Street Bridge project.
Council also authorized the city engineer to sign the Southern California Edison (SCE) applications and issue payment in the amount of $19,168.98.
The Jaye Street Bridge project at the Tule River includes widening the bridge from two to four lanes and reconstructing the street approaches to accommodate four lanes of traffic between Date Avenue and Springville Avenue said Mike Reed, the city’s public works director.
As part of the project, Reed said SCE will install streetlights along Jaye Street between Springville and Date Avenues. Reed said SCE will also provide and maintain the streetlights.
Underground conduit and hand holes, he said, will be installed by the construction contractor. Reed said the cost for SCE’S streetlight installations is $19,168.98.
Reed said the funding sources for the project are the Highway Bridge Program (HBP), Certificates of Participation (COP), and Local Transportation Funds (LTF). Reed said funding was approved in the 201718 annual budget. In other matters:
Approved the FY 201718 project list and a resolution to amend the budget to include RMRA funds.
Approved the purchase of a Dell DR4300 backup appliance at a cost of $12,191.86, plus the applicable sales tax and shipping.
Approved the purchase
of Energov Permitting & Land Management Software from Tyler Technologies for a onetime cost of $57,490 and an annual maintenance charge of $16,990.00.
Awarded the Plano Water Replacement and Concrete Curb Ramp project construction contract to MAC General in the amount of $1,311,875.95 for the project consisting of the removal and replacement of concrete along Plano Street and within the Barn Theatre parking lot.
Approved a Purchase Option Agreement that allows for testing of and potential purchase of a well site between the Tule River and the extension of River Springs Avenue for an amount of $29,000.
Authorized to distribute Requests for Qualifications for Oncall Consulting Services for right-of-way, surveying and materials testing services.
Approved the Veterans
Day Parade to take place from 5 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 11, and approved the closure of Main Street from Doris Avenue to Orange Avenue and additional side streets along the parade route.
Approved a request to proclaim Oct. 7-8 as Relay for Life Days.
Approved a request to proclaim Oct. 15-21, 2017 as Friends of Libraries Week.
Approved a Resolution of Necessity to acquire a portion of property located at West Side of Hillcrest Street, north of Jasmine Drive in Porterville in order to construct a water tank and other improvements for the East Porterville Water Supply Project.
Approved a Letter of Request for Veto of SB 649 (Hueso) regarding wireless telecommunications facilities.
Approved the continuance of the Declaration of Local Emergency.
The next city council meeting starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the council chambers at Porterville’s City Hall.
